First of all, the title and poppy sound and first couple of listens and you might think it's a "I love you because you're you" message, but it's not. It reminds me of the famous "it's not you it's me..." break up excuse (invented by George Costanza, apparently)...but Ed's never been one to gloss over the truth...it's not me, it's U. I can almost picture this as a Madonna dance-club song, all remixed and electronicked up. Imagine an Ed Vedder, Madonna duet...I think U is as close as we'll ever get.
